These cats come from entities that no longer want them, such as the Hollywood movie industry, zoos, Las Vegas shows, and as household pets such as Mike Tyson’s tigers. What they have in common is that they can no longer be cared for by their original owners and would be euthanized if this group didn’t step in to save them. 

My project’s purpose is to expand awareness of the plight of these animals by spotlighting these wild cats through my semi-abstract portrait essay of them.

These renderings will be accompanied by a biographical history of the animal. This series would allow the organization to reach a wider audience through education programs by using this unique new medium, my distinctive art.

This project serves several purposes. First of all, it has the potential to introduce a unique style of watercolor art using a subject matter that is quite interesting to many people of all ages. It benefits a worthy cause, providing recognition and awareness, and promotes environmental education.

I intend to work closely with the people of Big Cats of Serenity Springs in choosing which cats to focus on and in telling their stories through art.
